Garden Services and Resources
Many of our clients seek our advice about how to go about improving and maintaining their gardens. They may have just moved in and need guidance on where to buy good value furnishings. Or they could be improving their property with a view to selling it on or renting it out to holidaymakers. Either way, there are plenty of resources and outlets available to home owners on Lanzarote who are looking to brighten things up - especially in the garden.
Adding a great garden to your property can also add capital value and enhance holiday rental rates, so there's plenty of good reasons to get digging!
Creating a great garden here on Lanzarote can be tougher than it first appears. Plants are subjected to extreme weather conditions, both in terms of the wind and the heat, which can both have quite a debilitating effect, especially if you are hoping to grow fruit and vegetables. Getting to grips with Lanzarote's unique cultivation methods, the correct times for planting and protecting plants with the correct depth of picon can also be quite challenging for novices.
Lack of water can also obviously cause problems, which is why some owners choose to install irrigation systems, which also takes the work out of tending to your garden for you.
So before you head off to the garden centre it certainly pays to do a little research, for example by investigating neighbouring fields and gardens to see what is already growing well within your own particular area and microclimate.
A great looking garden can help enhance your property's value. Whilst also ensuring you stand out from your competition in the holiday rental market, bringing more bookings and allowing owners to increase their rental rates.

There are three main garden centres on the island. In our opinion Vivero Las Palmeras in Arrecife stocks the best value and quality plants, but other options are more accessible depending upon whereabouts your property is located on the island.
Vivero Las Palmeras
Based in Arrecife close to the main hospital they are open 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Extra Garden Centre
Located next door to the large Hiperdino supermarket in Playa Honda this centre is good for garden furniture and decoration but their plant selection is a little limited.
Providing good quality, comfortable garden furniture is vital if you're planning to rent your property out to tourists. As they will be looking to spend as much time outdoors as possible - no easy feat if all you have to sit on is a plastic chair.
There are plenty of outlets offering good quality garden furniture around the island. IKEA in Arrecife is one of the most obvious places to start, whilst most of the local ferreteria's also stock a decent range of options.
4Seasons in Tias are also a useful contact, as they produce customised cushions for outdoor dining areas and loungers to order. They can be contacted on 0034 928 833302.
